Choose the report audience
A meeting summary can prioritize conclusions and figures. A manuscript-oriented report usually needs the gating strategy, core statistics, and methods context. An audit or review appendix may include detailed sample-level tables and QC records. Include only content that supports the intended use.
Verify the analysis before export
- Confirm sample identity and metadata, including treatment, timepoint, donor, and replicate where relevant.
- Review the gating tree and representative plots; document how populations were defined.
- Check compensation status, transformations, and QC results or clearly state when QC was not run.
- Label percentage denominators (%Parent or %Total) and identify the channel for MFI or Median.
Summarize groups carefully
Display individual samples alongside group summaries when possible. Report the number of independent biological samples and how missing or excluded data were handled. A mean, range, or coefficient of variation is descriptive; statistical significance and effect estimates require an appropriate comparison design and statistical method.
